Mr. Cassam Uteem, the Secretary-General Special Envoy and Head of the UN Electoral Observation Mission for Burundi (MENUB) visited CENI's data processing center on Sunday.

This activity is part of MENUB's mandate to follow and report on the electoral process in Burundi and to report to the Secretary-General and the Secretary-General to the Security Council before, during and after the 2015 elections.

Together with Mr. Uteem during the visit were the European Union's ambassador in Burundi, Mr. Patrick Spirlet as well as country director of UNDP, one of CENI's main technical partners. CENI's president Pierre Claver Ndaiycariye and UNDP experts provided information related to electoral data center's tasks.

The center is tasked with processing information from voters who have been enrolled between November and beginning of December 2014. Around 220 agents have been assigned to perform this operation which should end within 45 days.
